What is Tadalafil? Unveiling the Mystery
Tadalaflio is a medicine.
1. Physiological functioning
-this is a selective phosphodiesterase inhibitor-5 (PDE-5). This enzyme is responsible for the degradation of nitrogen monoxide (no)-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the smooth muscles of the penis. By inhibiting PDE-5, tadalaflio allows cGMP levels to remain high. This causes a relaxation of the smooth muscles of the penis, which in turn increases the blood flow to the penis and facilitates the obtaining and maintenance of an erection.
2. Medical uses
Erectile dysfunction (ED): it is the main use of tadalaflio. It helps men who have difficulty getting or maintaining an erection enough for sexual activity.
Pulmonary hypertension: in some cases, it has been used in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension, as relaxation of pulmonary vessels induced by increased cGMP may help decrease pulmonary blood pressure.
3. Precautions and side effects
Precautions:
-it should not be taken in combination with nitrates (e.g. nitroglycerin), as the combination can lead to a drastic drop in blood pressure, which can be dangerous.
-they should be used with caution in patients with severe heart, liver or kidney disease.
Side effects: may include headache, dizziness, facial blush, blurred vision, stomach pain, among others.
